Another Food Blog
Yep, another food blog. The internet is full of food blogs that are well done. Perhaps there’s room for just one more – one that is a little beyond well done, a little toasty and crisp around the edges. Plus some family stories sprinkled in. Our intention is that whether you get up the energy to go into the kitchen and try out the recipes or simply kick back and enjoy the reading it doesn’t matter.
We're a team, mom and daughter, who have shared a lot of laughs and a few eye rolls while getting this blog started. We're learning more about mindful living as we go and will try to incorporate it into our posts. In our stories section, we’ll share bits of our life and some of our recipe-making conversations.
Dairy Free, Gluten Free...All Those Dietary Restrictions?
Our blog emerged out of a struggle with restrictions that kept coming at us from all sides of the food front. Lee found it challenging to cook a meal because of the growing number of food intolerances, but it was still easier and healthier to make food at home than go out.
Between the parents and grown ‘kids,’ we have to work around a gluten intolerance, a dairy allergy, lactose intolerance, allergies to fish and pork and beef, a sulfite allergy, and sensitivity to sweet and hot peppers (capsaicin).
The recipes here will touch on these various dietary needs, but usually not all in one recipe. It will be a kind of mash up. We’ve made it easy for you to search for the dietary needs you’re working around. When possible, recipes include options to make the recipe with or without certain ingredients.
Like many families, we were forced into narrower food boundaries. Now we’re taking that as an opportunity to explore, change, get creative and enjoy endless new food combinations.
So, yes, another food blog. Hope you’ll join us.
Curious about how we came up with the name?
